The others were likely geldings (castrated males) or mares that they wanted to be bred by him. This is perfectly normal behavious for horses however I cringe when I see them rearing up wit the barriers between them. When our your stud Blue was 18 months old I had him out in the turnout and I had his Daddy our other stallion in the roundpen which is in this area and I found the young horse hanging by his front leg which had wedged between two of the panels when he was playing with his father. He had obviously got his front legs over the top of the rails and because the gaps between the panels werent wide enough his leg slipped in but not through so he was hanging there fortunately being calm. I tended tht wound for 4 - 5 months through one of the coldest winters we have had. The vet wanted to put him down because he had damaged his joint above the hoof so badly but I wouldn't let him and I nursed him every day. It happened the day before Xmas two years ago and the temps those two mornings were -6F and -8F so you can imagine me having to try to get the wound cleaned every day and soaked, dressed and bandaged.

My point being I suppose is that I NEVER let the stallions and mares have cntact with each other directly even with a fence or barrier between because I couldnt bear to have that happen again.Lori Schmidt (LoriProPhoto)https://www.blogger.com/profile/01786227217137143996noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2442509830108892997.post-54123592067338446082009-03-28T13:57:00.000-04:002009-03-28T13:57:00.000-04:00Hi Lisa,Love the photos!Hope you're doing good...Hi Lisa,
Love the photos!
Hope you're doing good!
Have a great wk.end!
Love&Blessins',LibLibhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10854570178942602696noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2442509830108892997.post-87752631128267556392009-03-27T17:56:00.000-04:002009-03-27T17:56:00.000-04:00You got soem great 'action' shots of those horses!...You got soem great 'action' shots of those horses! I did, however get to hear an owl hooting in broad daylight while I was out there. I love that sound! While I was out there, a guy stopped and was talking to me. He invited me to his house (only about a mile from where I was) to see the Pileated Woodpecker. I didn't go that day, but I might another day. I've never seen one yet. Only the Red-bellied and Downey variety.
Lisaraccoonlover1963/Lisa Myershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02529006597210786583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2442509830108892997.post-43588588873687395142009-03-26T16:31:00.000-04:002009-03-26T16:31:00.000-04:00I wonder if any of those frog eggs are of bull fro...I wonder if any of those frog eggs are of bull frog descent? LOL..."Leave me alone!".. Herons are real real skittish. We have a pair on the lake and a lot of times they light on the dock for a while. As soon as I open the door (super quietly) they fly off.
