What A Weekend!

Hello everybody! I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. We had our family Thanksgiving at my Aunt Pat's this year. We usually do it at my Aunt Linda's in Anderson, but it's too far for my mother to travel in her condition. Aunt Pat lives here in town. We were going to have it at Grandpa's, but he only has a single-wide mobile home, so not a lot of space.

Mom's not doing so good. We'll be lucky if she makes it to Christmas. She has been turned away from her chemo the last 3 weeks because she has been so weak. She is in bed at least 18 hours a day now and has absolutely no energy. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.

Ryan, Melissa and Cody were over Friday evening. They saw me at the store when I was getting batteries and other things for Christmas decorating. After they were done shopping, they came over. Cody helped me decorate the tree. He actually did a pretty good job of it.

This is the face he makes when ever somebody tells him "cheese it"! Yes, that's me with him.

This is a nuthatch in my bird feeder. They come around here far more than the old house.

This hornet's nest is in my next-door neighbor's back yard. It is actually hanging over our fence! I hope that's not a sign of things to come! LOL

The Black-capped Chickadee is another bird that I hardly ever saw at the other house, but they are all over the place here. Strange what difference 1 mile will do! I have no idea what kind of bird this is. I have never seen one before. He kind of looks to me like a brown Nuthatch. Abe, any ideas?
This is our house decorated for Christmas. Chuck and Michael spent the entire afternoon Saturday hanging the icicle lights.

I saw this doe on my way home from my mother's this afternoon. I had to drive pretty slow because we had snow last night and this morning, and the country roads were a mess. On my way out to her house, I started fish-tailing, and I was only going about 25 mph. I shifted into low gear and kept it there the rest of the trip there, and again on the way home. It was really foggy today, but it finally cleared up this evening. We are supposed to get more snow through the night and during the day Monday.

This is the Blackford County Historical Museum. I have never been inside because they have such strange hours, but I'll eventually make it up there. I just love the old house!

This was the scene at my bird feeder this morning! While I was sitting here at the computer, I could hear them all take off at once. They would all get spooked, take off into the cherry tree, then go right back for a few seconds, then repeat, several times!

This was my first picture this morning. This little cutie is the one that scattered all the seed that the birds were eating off the ground.

Gonna get off here for now and get to bed. I have a lot of straightening up to do around this house.

Everybody take care and have a great week.

Love Ya

Lisa

Sorry your mom is not doing well. I'll be thinking of her and you.
I have no idea what that little yellow birdie is, but it's soooo cute. Love the rest of your pictures too, as usual.

This pictures all look so festive. Your Christmas is very nice and the outside of the house looks so festive for the season.

I'm sorry about your mom Lisa. I will definitely keep her in my prayers.

Enjoyed your bird photos. We don't hardly ever see nuthatches here. I love those little birds.

Very nice pictures, Love the Birds.

Only if I had a better Lens for my camera that I could zoom them in closer to me, by the time I get closer, they are gone.

Anyway, I really hope your mother comes threw with the cemo.

Hi Lisa
I am sending prayers for your Mom, I understand what you are going through at this moment as you know, stay strong for her.

Love the new birds and the deer is gorgeous!!! I ony wish I had got this close to one even if it was dark, you did a great job.

I used to shoot a lot of school portraits and pre-school and my favorite thing to gt them smiling was "smelly socks" or "silly sausages", but it only worked for a few times so you had to get the shot quick to get the good natural reaction!!!!

I hope we get to visit soon, althugh this weather is making it really hard. I hate driving in the snow and ice.

Oh and on the hornet's nest, I would suggest getting rid of it now while it is cold, this is like the one I nearly rode Cayenne into on the trails and I was pretty far from it and they started to attack me, not a pleasant experience. Now with it being so cold it would probably be a good time. We had to wait until night and in the dark (because as soon as we switched the flashlight on they started coming out) put a black plastic trash bag over it and seal it at the top and cut it off and then I am not too sure what they did with it. These guys are very agressive and you dont want to be near them.

Whichever way I would suggest getting rid of it asap. The one I cam across was about the size of a football.

Hi Lisa!

I am playing catch-up again! I see you got moved and settled in. Your home looks lovely all decorated! And the little guy who helped you decorate your tree is a cute little fella!!!

Sorry to hear your mom isn't doing too well. I will certainly add her to my prayer list.

Loved all your little birds eating! The squirrels like to pick out the sunflower seeds and throw all the others onto the ground. But we always fed the squirrels, too...they get hungry, too!

It's been cold here in the South lately! But Winter is such a short season for us, it'll be history before we know it....at least I hope it will be. LOL

Hi everybody. I would just like to thank everybody for your well wishes for my mother. She went over for chemo today, but I didn't talk to her, so I don't know if she received the chemo today or if she was turned down again. She was really run down yesterday when I was out at their house.

I love the little nuthatches so much - never tire of seeing them. :) That's a buttload of birds at your feeder! How neat!

I'm sorry to hear about your mom and will be thinking about your whole family. (You knew I was in remission, right?) Cancer is just too close to my heart. I lost a friend to cancer a couple of months ago. Anyway, I will be thinking of you all. *hugs*

Your mom (and you) are in my prayers. Combined with the joy of the season, this must be a difficult time for you and your family.

Your pictures are fabulous. I like the way you sign and date them. I don't remember you doing that before, probably just a matter of me just not remembering. I'm looking at the squirrel photo as I type this. Honestly Lisa it looks like something you would see in a nature magazine or on a Hallmark card.

Hi Lisa, So sad to hear that your mother is unwell. I lost my mother May this year after a six month illness. I can understand your emotions. Loved your lights, your tree and your little helper. We don't have a tree or lights at home this year as we are travelling interstate to be with family over the holiday season. About 3000 miles round trip. It must be great with all the natural wild life around you. I don't know how you handle the snow driving though. Regards Noel

I'm sorry to hear that your Mother is not doing well. I missed this post, probably because Abe was in the hospital from Nov. 25th until Dec. 2nd. and I was able to get around to the blogs I like to read.

The photo of you and Cody is precious. Have a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous New Year.

The little bird is a red-breasted nuthatch - you got it exactly right. I am captivated by your pictures - they encourage me to post more birds on my own blog, though I am not half the photographer you are. I participate in Project FeederWatch through Cornell. And I feed the raccoons too!
