Fewer And Farther Between

Hello everybody. It's been a long week. My mother's tennants moved out of her house last weekend. We are going to be moving into it, but it needs a lot of work first.
I was on my way home from Mom and Lyle's after taking Mom home from her monthly class luncheon. I saw this hawk at the last minute sitting on a utility pole. I had to go up to a driveway and turn around. He flew down from the pole, to the ditch in the field on the other side of the road. I got a few shots of him in the high grass. I think he was looking for a late lunch.
This shot I had to turn into a coloring book because I had it too far overexposed and couldn't correct the lighting on Photoshop, but I liked the way he looked, so I did the coloring book, but left the color in.
I took several pics of him both in the grass and on the pole. I'm surprised he stayed there as long as he did with me being there, although I never got out of the truck. I shot all the utility pole pictures out of the windshield of the truck and the ditch pics out of my rolled down window.
This is my favorite shot of him on the pole. Actually, I like them both!
What's an autumn-time post without some more autumn colors?
This is another shot of the Mississinewa River. From the same location that I shot the pics a couple of posts ago. I just had more time to sit where I wasn't supposed to! NO PARKING!
A little bit different angle. I used the "lighting effects" filter on Photoshop for this, without using the texture on it. The ones I posted previously with lighting effects had texture added to them.
This barn in out on county road 100 West. I was on my way over to Muncie to get ink for my printer. This pic was on the east side of the road, so I had to enhance the pic. It was rather hazy from the morning sunlight.
These are just a few elk on an elk farm on the way to Muncie. I pass this farm right before I hit the bridge over the Mississinewa River. Lori and I went out in May and took pictures of the elk. That was the first day using my Canon that my cousin gave me. At first, it was a little difficult to told the camera still as it is rather heavy. Robyn at the News-Times showed me the camera she uses, and it is extremely light compared to the Canon. I don't remember off hand, but I believe it was a Nikon.
The weather is nice and cool and the leaves are all over the ground. Nice and crisp. Weather and leaves! LOL
I'm going down to the other house today to do a little bit of cleaning. The bonehead that lived there before had the water turned off and it wasn't even in his name. It was still in Mom's name. But at least the electric is still on. It's in his name! Go figure!!!
Gonna go for now. I am sorry I haven't been posting more often, but I will try to do better.
I would like to say thank you to all of you who read my posts regularly and also thank my new readers for stopping by.
TTYL
Love Ya
Lisa

Lisa,

Very Splinded Pictures. I have a Passion for Birds of Pray.

Eagle is my Utmost Pride bird of choice.

I have to admit, and sorry for being Blunt about it, but the Coloring Page Effect Doesn't catch my Eye that well.

The others are very well Done, I just wish I had a lens like that. And a really Good Macro Lens, I like taking pictures up really close and really Far away, but unfortunately, a 18-55 don't work that well for really far away nor close up.

I think you did a good job on these photos. The hawk is a young one so may not be in tune with the times like an older one. Hunting has to be learned they tell me.

Also in Photoshop, sometimes you can correct the over exposure Image > Adjustment > Shadow and Highlight

or the same except use Exposure instead of Shadow and Highlight.

Also, do you know about Adjustment and then Auto Levels?

I just got Photoshop CS4 and it sure is different. I have CS2, CS3 and now CS4 on the computer and one will have to go. I suspect CS2.

That hawk was definitely posing for his picture. How beautiful! We love to watch as they soar above the fields out by our house. So graceful but yet so fierce.

What Detail? what kind of camera do you have? The focus is awesome! I didn't know a digital camera could zoom that well. very nice pics.

Lisa,
I have tried so many times to get a photo of our hawk but he's always so high up in the tree that I can never zoom in close enough. You're soooo good.

Hi there, I found your blog via your recent comment at Flydragon's. I'll be honest and say it was the "Glamor Shots pic" that intrigued me to visit, plus your interest in nature.

I love hawks, especially red-tailed ones. I've no pictures, as I've not been blessed to capture one in the wild yet. I used to live down in a "holler" in south-central Kentucky, red-tailed hawks were a common site. And their "high lonesome sound" as they soared will always remind me of "Tucker Holler."

If you visit my blog you'll see a very similar picture of the one you snapped of the Mississinewa River; mine is of Slippery Rock Creek. And I might add your pictures are gorgeous, including the "Glamor Shots pic." ;~)

Lisa, what beautiful photos. I loved seeing the hawk. I know how hard it can be to get pictures of them.

The river photo was stunning and the elk are awesome. I wish they could be wild in my area.

Nice Hawk photos lisa, and I really need to go visit the Elk again. Looks like they have nice racks of horns on them at the moment.

Canon vs Nikon, now that is a debate LOL you will find both sides defending their equipment passionately and there is a big rivalry. I have always used Canons and wouldn't be caught dead with a Nikon Hehehehe. Of course I feel that Canon is always in the forefront of all the new technology that comes out with Nikon one step behind!!!

Hi Lisa!
The photos of the hawk are really special. You're lucky to live where you see nature up close, or maybe it's just that you are more attentive to nature than others and that's why we get all these wonderful pictures.

Loved the hawk photos. I saw a hawk swoop down at my birdfeeder and grab another bird. It really startled me.

Hi Lisa, firstly thanks for your comments on my postings, at least I know that someone, besides myself, reads them. LOL

I like the hawk shots, you are very fortunate that it stayed reasonably close for so long! You seem to have a "good eye" for picking up potential shots.

I am in a camera club and that was the topic of conversation at the meeting yesterday. That is, the ability to see what a photo will look like before the shot is taken, something I need to practice more fully. What I mean is, that the camera records everything in front of it while our eyes gloss over the imperfections.

Have fun with your house cleaning! LOL

Regards,
Noel

Great hawk photos!

The elk are great, too. I live within a 20 minute drive of the largest wild herd of elk east of the MS River. They are truly impressive animals.

Love the photos, especially the really really yellowish green marshy river and the coloring book hawk...just wandered in from Lydia's Writerquake, and am enjoying looking around.

I can see where the saying "eyes like a hawk" comes from now! His eyes look piercing! Nice shots!

Did you get moved yet? I see that you are busy since you haven't posted in a week or so. No doubt, you are anxious to get the house fixed up and get settled in before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thinking of you....
