Here I am, late as usual. Today was absolutely miserable! Temps in the high 80's along with high humity. I went out to Grandpa's today to work in the garden. The weeds are trying to take over again thanks to the rain we've recently had. The deer have been into the garden eating the corn stalks.
I had to stop for a while to try to cool down. While I was resting, I got a few shots in. The bumble bee playing in the hollyhocks. He was covered in pollen! This is Grandpa's old dinner bell. We used to ring it all the time when we were kids. Michael insisted on ringing it today. It's the first time in about 30 years I have heard that bell ring. Brought back some memories.
This guy totally freaked me out. When I first saw it, it looked like a bumble bee on steroids! lol Lori told me it is a hummingbird clearwinged moth. I've seen her pics of them, but they were a different color.
Then, this evening while I was trying to get rid of the headache that the heat had induced, I saw this adorable baby bunny out in the side yard. I managed to get behind a large oak tree without it seeing me, poked my head around the tree to get a couple of shots, then I just quietly stepped out away from the tree to take a couple more. He eventually saw me and scampered off.
Then, after dinner, I stepped out the back door to shake the garlic bread crumbs out of the towel they were in. I saw this juvenile robin under the neighbor's maple tree. He had been there for quite a while. I thought maybe he was injured or just not able to fly. I was able to get rather close to him to get a really good shot before he flew away.
That's about it for now. Have a good evening/morning and hopefully I'll see you tomorrow.
Love Ya
Lisa

The hummingbird moth is one we see but not as often as those with regular wings. I do like your photos today. It is awfully hot here this morning and is so get into the 90s. So I won't be doing much outdoors.
Kumpulan, I currently live in Hartford City, Indiana. It is a small town about 15 or 20 miles north of Muncie, and maybe about 40 miles or so south of Fort Wayne.
Thank you for visiting me again.

All of these are tender pictures, Lisa. But the one of the bumblebee is more than special. Your name engraving gets in the way, but if you printed this one it would make a great art poster. Also, on NBC news tonight Ann Curry had another report on the disappearance of bumblebees. This is the second summer of Hive Collapse disorder and scientists are working furiously to try to solve it. Your bumblebee shot would probably interest the local high school or college science teachers.
Ah, the change in position of your name on the bumblebee photo really makes a difference. I adore this shot!
Patty. Sorry I didn't answer sooner. Just having a brain cramp! Yes, the dinner bell still works. Michael rang it the day we were there. Grandpa wasn't at home, so we didn't have to warn him.
