Flower Power

Good morning. Not too sure what's so good about it at this point. Its very overcast and humid outside. And the worst part is I'm not in bed! LOL These Peppemint Hibiscus are in my neighbor's yard. They live on the next block on the corner. These flowers are HUGE! I've never seen Hibiscus so big.
These Tiger Lillies and Sweet Peas are in another neighbor's yard. They live behind me. They have a huge house we all jokingly call the Munster House. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous house, it's just a very large older house. I probably would have done better with a wide angle lens for this shot, but I don't have one. Only a 75 - 300 mm zoom lens, so I make do with it.
This is a close up of one of those Tiger Lillies.
This is back to the other neighbor's place. This is another large Hibiscus. It's in their front yard. I got the shot over-exposed, so I did my usual playing around with it. Darkened then over contrasted it.
And yet, another Hibiscus from the same yard. I had several more pictures from yesterday, all of flowers but I ended up losing them because my computer had a brain fart! I had already deleted the pics from the camera, so I will have to pester Lori and ask her to put the memory card on her computer and recover the lost pictures. My computer doesn't have that capability, but hers does. She stopped over yesterday afternoon and brought me a CD of my horse show pictures that were on her computer. She did have to keep some off the website though, because of being out of focus, or over exposed. Hey, give me a break, I'm new at this photography thing! I'm still trying to figure this camera out. I still don't know much about f-stops and aperature. I mostly know about setting the ISO for proper lighting and focusing. She is taking me to another horse show next weekend. August 9th & 10th. It will be in New Castle, Indiana. Quite a bit closer than Rochester was. But we will still be staying there, instead of driving back and forth. Mom should be getting out of the hospital today. They cancelled her pet scan and chemo yesterday. Needless to say, she was not a happy camper. She will have to go back over, I believe she said on Sunday for one of the procedures. She was a bit loopy when I talked to her yesterday. They have been switching her between Morphine and Toradol for her pain.
Gonna go for now and crawl back into bed for a while! I need all the beauty sleep I can get!
Love ya
Lisa

Looks as though your neighbors all have some pretty nice flowers for you to view.

We have a tall privacy fence which we both like, and we have plenty of things in our own yard to view. I can walk outside in my nightgown and not worry about anyone seeing me. LOL But hey, I've been known to take the trash out on trash day in my duster and slippers. Several neighbors also take the trash out in their nightclothes.

Have a great day. It's hot and muggy here this morning, I wish we would get a little rain. Well it's 7:45, Oldmanlincoln will soon be asking are you going to fix breakfast, he just did, he asked "Are you going to fix something to eat?" LOL

Hi Lisa
Have nearly caught up on all of the pictures being sent out, it is a slow process but I am gettting there in between everything else that needs doing. I love the vulture ones from yesterday and the flower pics are beautiful I am glad you got out there and took them. I want to try to get by tomorrow and get a few shots myself. Whatever you do don't shoot anything else on that card until I have had a go at recovering them, we can do that tomorrow. I know it is hard not to shoot .... but be strong LOL. I told you it was addictive.

I am seeeing improvements every day in your pictures, keep em comin (after I have looked at the card and tried to recover them).

I still havent done my blog, I will eventually get there.

C U 2morrow.

Beautiful flowers! They seem to be handling the humidity well. I miss Indiana, but I don't miss the humid summers!

You seem to have a very beautiful neighborghood. I wish that some of my neighbors would take better care of their yards. Great pictures.

You'd love my dad - always telling me about different lenses, apatures, film speeds etc. Great pictures - you have a good eye for an image and a good image to the eye!

Those are such gorgeous colors. Flowers seem to flourish in the heat and humidity. I wonder how the horses like it...
Let us know what goes on around New Castle. Is that where your mom's treatment will be? I'm meditating on her peace of mind.

Lydia. Thank you for your prayers. My mother's treatment will be at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. The horse show Lori and I will be doing is in New Castle.

The flowers are all so beautiful!

Sure hope your mom does well with everything. It has to be hard going through that. I used to live in Muncie....but just for a year. We had a home custom built and lived in it 17 days when I said I wanted to come back to SC. We had just put our daughter on a plane in Indy 2 days after Christmas and that about did me in! She was out of college and working but I hated to part with her!!! Then a week later, the same thing with our son, who was still in college. So we decided we'd come back. My son came to Muncie on an internship for Ball Corp that summer so I had to stay till August when he finished up with that. He was in CT all week, and I was there alone all week! Finally, I got to move back that August! I've been to New Castle, too. It is beautiful corn country! I remember riding and on both sides, nothing bu cornfields higher than the car.

Hope you havea great time next weekend!

Lisa: Sorry I haven't been here for a while to comment, too busy I guess. I hope you don't mind if you get a lot of comments.

These flowers are beautiful and well captured, you did a great job on them.
